Click, Clack, Moo! Here’s a funny story that the children love…

Materials: YouTube, white paper plate, paper or cardstock, printer (optional), a stick (dowel, stick from nature, etc.), tape, scissors and paint or markers.

Main Learning Outcomes: Developing fine and gross motor skills and early literacy.

(1) First, gather together with your child to read the story, “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type”, by Doreen Cronin. If you don’t have the book at home, you can listen to it by following this link:

(2) For our activity today, we will make a cow ring toss. For the ring, take your paper plate and cut out an outer ring about 2 inches wide. Then using black paint or markers, color on cow spots. Then, to make the target, print up a picture of a cow on cardstock or paper and cut it out (Here is a link: If you’d prefer to be more creative, draw and colour a cow and then cut it out. It should be about 3 inches wide. Then tape it to the top of your stick. A dowel is used in the picture, but if you don’t have one, you can find a stick, or anything around the house or garage that might work. Now you’re done! Take it outside, stick it into the ground and practice your tossing skills.
